CTW08: Afro Reggae (Brazil) & Space 3 (UK)

Sunday 27 July 7.30pm

£6/£4

Rio de Janeiro's Afro Reggae & Manchester's Space 3 have been twinned to create a brand-new theatre double-bill to open this year's Contacting The World in Liverpool as part of the city's Capital of Culture celebrations.

Afro Reggae (Brazil)
Rua Paris 10A

Here or in any other place in the world, Paris Street 10A is about addressing and resolving existential questions. With naturalist characters, the stage becomes a street with characters inspired by the Theatre of the Absurd.

Afro Reggae Cultural Group works with young people who come from some of Rio de Janeiro's most excluded favelas. The theatre company began life using theatre as an awareness raising tool, specifically on matters relating to health. It is now widely recognised as one of the world’s most exciting and successful cultural and social movements working with young people.

Space 3 (UK)
Buy:Sell

What is the last thing in the world you would sell? What would drive you to do it? Space 3 invite you to the marketplace - where battling voices, brightly coloured-cloth and the smell of food teases cash from palms. A place where you have to keep your wits about you - else you could be tricked in to parting with the things you hold dearest.

Space 3 is a new company formed out of a fusion of young people who have been involved in a number of projects at Contact over the last few years. It aims to bring together the diverse cultures and backgrounds of the company to create a fusion of art forms and performance styles to challenge the traditional notions of theatre making.
